An old 1940's bach was existing on this site but needed huge amounts of work to get it up to being a warm functioning home. To maintain the existing cottage the living conditions of the clients would have been greatly compromised. However, the clients loved the feel and location on site that the bach had, so the brief was to maintain a small footprint, have a cottage feel to the new house but allow for good flow out to the established garden and create a warm, economic retirement home.
