PROJECTS > NEW HOUSES > HAWES RESIDENCE
Located one row back from the Lake Taupo waterfront the owners wanted to maximise the amazing views of the lake towards the west while gaining maximum northern sun. The site ran long ways East to West and had tight planning restrictions on both footprint and recession planes. The house was designed around these restrictions and to accommodate the daily living spaces on the upper level with bedrooms and service rooms to the lower level. Decks to both the east and the west were designed for outdoor living to the upper level, keeping views to the lake while giving options for all weather conditions and privacy concerns. Clad in a mixture of zincalum and random width cedar weatherboard, the house sits naturally into the greater landscape. Internally all walls and ceilings were lined with plywood to give a relaxed feel to their holiday home.
